Finals day

Sunday 19th July

In order to build the B league philosophy within the competition players at all age groups will be required to retire at 25 and no one bowler will be allowed to bowl more than 3 overs. County Age Group Boy players are not allowed to play in B League matches at their own age group, but County Age Group Girl players are allowed to play, up to two years younger than their age group.

Semi Final: Radlett v Letchworth

Sunday 8th July, marked a great day’s cricket at Datchworth cricket club for the Radlett Under 13 B team. Despite the sweltering heat, our boys performed admirably, summoning a good deal of commitment, fight and an indomitable will to win.
The semi-final saw Radlett against Letchworth and having elected to bat, Radlett posted a very creditable score of 155. Excellent batting performances from Dhruv Shah (28) Finlay MacDonald (25) and Theo Clark (25) were ably supported by Veer Ladd (16) and Isaac Walters (9) and it was clear that Letchworth faced a stiff challenge. Radlett’s bowling attack proved to be a formidable unit, restricting Letchworth to 90 and their fielding was outstanding. The wickets were shared between Ben Evans (3) Adam Rolfe (2) and Finlay MacDonald, Dhruv Shah, Theo Clark, Isaac Walters and Rohan Gupta with a wicket each.

Final: Radlett v Northchurch

The final was a far tighter affair, pitting Radlett against Northchurch, who had only lost one game all season. Radlett were asked to bat and once again Dhruv Shah bludgeoned the bowlers to all parts of the ground, quickly scoring 25. Theo Clark (20), Sushant Despande (18) and Isaac Walters (11) ensured that Radlett posted a competitive score of 126 and it was certainly ‘game on!’ Northchurch’s openers looked assured and after 10 overs a score of 61 for 3 suggested that the match would go to the wire! However, Radlett drew on their reserves and managed to win the game as Northchurch ended on 117. Once again, the wickets were shared amongst the team. Adam Rolfe (3) Dhruv Shah, Sushant Despande, Finlay MacDonald, Isaac Walters and James Hely-Hammond picking up a wicket.
Both games were played in an excellent spirit and credit must go to all the boys that took part. A special ‘thank you’ to Datchworth CC, who proved to be excellent hosts, ensuring that everyone was suitably ‘watered’ and that the day ran smoothly.
