Less than half of the 30 games scheduled in the three groups took place in this years competition all the rest were conceded. Eventually Old Albanians, Hoddesdon, West Herts and Bushey emerged as semi finalists. Old Albanians travelled to Bushey and came out winners.Batting first Old Albanians scored 140-4 with Bushey replying with 123-7. The other semi final was a much more one sided affair with the Hoddesdon openers putting on 162 for the first wicket both reaching there 50’s with Hugh Cavener retiring out on 91. Hoddesdon finished on 178-3 and in reply West Herts lost quick wickets in pursuit of this intimidating total and succumbed to 98 ao.
In the final Old Albanians won the toss and batted. They found runs hard to come by and at the half way stage of their innings (20 overs) had reached 57-1. After drinks Ross Weaver(64) and Noah CS(42) dramatically accelerated the scoring rate allowing OA’s finish on 192-7. The pick of the Hoddesdon bowlers was Orchard with 3-12 off 6 overs.
In reply Hoddesdon, missing their prolific openers from the semi final, had no answer to the excellent Hoddesdon bowling attack and were dismissed for 56 off 15.3 overs. Only Matt Young (21) showing any resistance. Brendan Warren with 4 wickets and Joe Curran and James Berwick with two wickets apiece doing the damage with the ball.
