Bushey defeated Hitchin in the final.  Match report as follows:

Hitchin win the toss and decide to bat. Hitchin get off to a great start hitting 32 off the first 5 overs. Guest and Beard placing the ball well using the pace to hit early boundaries. As nerves and pressure creeps in, overthrows, missed run out opportunities & fielding slip-ups as Hitchin ramp up the pressure. Shivam reverts back to previous tactics and brings on the spinners and it works. A much needed break through in the 6th over as Sachin takes a catch off Arjun's bowling. The spinners take control taking 3 wickets in 3 overs, Arjun taking 2 of those leading to a hatrick ball. Guest hits an impressive 41 off 42 balls after which Hithcin consistently add runs each over. Some fantastic bowling again by Bushey, no no-balls or wides, an unbelievable catch by Ben at short cover & excellent keeping by Aarush who didn't give away a single bye as Hitchin close on 99-6 off 20 overs. 100 to win, 5/over. A disastrous start for Bushey, Shivam takes a very risky single on the 2nd ball and out, without even facing a ball. Pressure on as Snehaan comes to the crease. Some very tight bowling by Norrington and Postlethwaite as they contain Bushey to 23-1 after 6 overs. Snehaan hits the first boundary in the 7th over and 9 coming off Norrington's final over. Sneehan out! Dilan out! Two quick wickets in the 8th and 9th overs brings Ayush and Sachin to the crease. The pair add some quick runs hitting boundaries and sprinting between the wickets for quick 1's and 2's adding 22 runs in only 3 overs. Ayush goes for a big hit and is caught, two more quick wickets follow, that's 3 wickets down in 3 overs with only 12 runs added. Sachin and Arjun at the crease, 26 needed off the last 6 overs with 4 wickets to spare. Start of the 15th over, parents biting their nails in anticipation to see what happens to the next delivery, silence around the ground as the bowler runs in and BANG...Sachin hits 4 off the first ball. Dot for the second, then 2, then 1, dot, and then 2, 9 runs coming off Beard's first over as the odds swing back in Bushey's favour. 17 needed off 5 overs. 5 runs off the next over with some great running between the wickets by Arjun. 12 needed off 4 overs. Gates bowls his first over, two quick singles and then Sachin hits a four! Superb batting and 7 off Gates 1st over. 5 runs needed off 3 overs, the Bushey parents breath a sigh of relief. Gibbs comes into bowl and FOUR! Sachin hits it through cover as the fielders watch the ball whizz past them. Dot, dot, and then a wild hit over mid-on for two and VICTORY, Bushey are the County Cup winners!

Bushey defeated Knebworth Park in the semi-final.  Match report as follows:

Bushey lost the toss and were put into bat on the rather odd shaped Broxbourne 2nd pitch. A steady start by the opening pair before Snehaan came to the crease and launched into their bowlers. After losing one ball over the hedge in the 6th over he was shortly joined by Ayush. Both batsmen ripped apart the Knebworth bowlers. Sneehan retired on 41 off 35 balls and Ayush retired on 41 off only 24 balls. Sageeran also contributing a quick 17 off 11 balls as Bushey closed their innings on 150-4, almost 100 runs coming off the last 10 overs! Knebworth made an impressive start, Spencer and Jack keeping up with the required run rate for the 1st 3 overs playing the pace bowlers well. A change of tactics from Shivam bringing the spinners in. Arjun and Sachin soon slowed the run rate down as the opening pair made an impressive 51 partnership after 10 overs. However, Knebworth begin to feel the pressure as the run rate jumped to 10/over. Change of bowling again and Sageeran takes two wickets for only 1 run in his first over which Knebworth never really recover from despite losing 3 balls with impressive boundary hitting into the hedges. Great catches by Ben and Shivam, great keeping from Aarush's, tight bowling with Khush taking 1 wicket for only 2 runs and Dhruv bowling the last over leading Bushey to a comfortable victory. Knebworth closed their inning for 103-7 off their 20 overs.

Well done to all 4 teams for reaching Finals Day & good luck to you all on Sunday.  The draw for the day is as follows:

          Hitchin v Harpenden (main pitch)

Bushey v Knebworth Park (second pitch)

Semis to start at 12.00, Final at 3.30 with presentation at circa 6.30pm (there is no 3rd/4th play-off game)

Please bring 2 new balls each.

Your host Paul Sargent recommends that the 2 teams playing on the second pitch also bring a couple of decent spare balls as balls can sometimes be lost in the trees or the New River that run down either side of the ground.

The club bar will be open all day serving soft & alcoholic drinks & snacks. There will also be a barbecue running until around 3.30pm.

There have been some very good games this year with high scoring and close contests outweighing one-sided matches.

I have determined the quarter final line up according to the rules laid out on page 140 of the handbook. There were 5 group winners and 5 runners-up and in order to find 8 quarter-finalists the 2 unlucky runners-up were Old Albanian and West Herts, decided on points average.  The 3 runners-up that qualify are therefore Berkhamsted, Knebworth Park and Bishop's Stortford.

As Bushey won 2 of the groups those 2 sides are the first quarter-final.

Hertford and Hitchin both achieved maximum points average so according to the rules Hitchin play Bishop's Stortford and Hertford play Knebworth Park.  That leaves Harpenden to play Berkhamsted.

The quarter final line up is therefore (home team first):

        Bushey 1 v Bushey 2

        Hitchin v Bishop's Stortford

        Hertford v Knebworth Park

        Harpenden v Berkhamsted

The home team managers are to offer fixtures to their opposite number according to the rules on page 141 of the handbook.  Please will you make every effort to play your matches by Wednesday 12th July.

Please will you inform me of the date of your quarter-final before it is played

Thanks, Andrew
