Further update on Covid-19 and the SHJL

May 1st, 2020

Cricket activity and coaching
All cricketing activity remains on hold until the ECB issues revised guidance. This includes training (indoor and outdoor), nets, friendly matches, league matches and 1-2-1 and small group coaching.

Junior League matches
As per the previous update, the SHJL remains optimistic of a resumption of some cricket activity in July hopefully with matches starting in the week commencing 12th July. If this is the case, then all matches will be played as friendlies with the aim being to play as much cricket as possible, bearing in mind any remaining government restrictions. The fixtures would remain as scheduled but with the first week of the season moved to 12 July. Of course, it may be that teams cannot play matches for various reasons so the league would ask clubs to be flexible and try to arrange other fixtures if the original one can’t be played.

There will be a further update when the Government/ECB make any further changes to the lockdown rules but in the meantime please stay safe and keep well.
